BOZEMAN — Montana State punter Jered Padmos earned a spot on the Google Cloud CoSIDA Academic All-District 7 Team, the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced Thursday.
A Boulder product, Padmos majors in elementary education at Montana State. The junior carries a 3.81 cumulative grade point average. He was voted all-district by Sports Information Directors from Division I schools in Montana, Colorado, Idaho, Kansas, Nebraska, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Texas and Wyoming. To be considered, student-athletes must have reached sophomore status with a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 or better while playing as a starter or important reserve.
Montana State’s primary punter for the past three seasons, Padmos stands 23rd in the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) this season with a 41.8 yards-per-punt average. Only 15 of his 50 punts have been returned, and he has pinned the opponent inside the 20-yard line 15 times. The Cats rank 11th in the FCS in net punting, and Padmos, a directional punt specialist utilizing conventional and rugby-style punts, has hit 11 kicks of at least 50 yards.
Padmos and the Bobcats head to Missoula this weekend for Saturday’s Bobcat-Grizzly game. Kickoff is noon.
