The Montana Tech women’s golf team finished in second behind Rocky Mountain at the MSU-Northern Invitational at Marias Valley Golf Course in the first Frontier Conference event of the 2022-23 season.
The Rocky women finished with a 615 stroke total, which was 39 strokes above par and 48 strokes under second place Montana Tech at 663, Carroll third with a 686
The Montana Tech men’s golf team opened Frontier Conference season with a second place finish at the MSU-Northern Invitational with a second place finish and Rocky Mountain winning the first event of the season at Marias Valley Golf Course.
The Rocky Men take first in their first invitational of the 2022 season, led by Aidan McDonagh’s first place effort, shooting 72 in the third round and ending with a 220 stroke total. Teammate Haydn Driver finished in second place with a 223 total.
Montana Tech’s Matt Hobbs tied for third place, along with William Dexheimer and Leon Doedtmann of Rocky with a 227 stroke total. Oredigger Jhett Braley finished one stoke back in a tie with Nolan Burzminski of Rocky at 228.
Five Diggers finished together with three of them tying for 13th within 2 strokes of each other. Joe Opitz finished 11th at 233, Gabe Witham 12th with a 234 and Jace Rhodes, JR Small and Nick Pasquarello tied for 13th at 235. Blake Loberg rounded out the Tech team with a 238 in a tie for 16th place.
The Rocky Men finished with a stroke total of 891, 27 strokes above par and 19 strokes under second place Montana Tech at 910. Carroll finished third at 1020.
