BOZEMAN — Montana State men’s basketball coach publicly unveils his 2012-13 Bobcat squad this weekend, and based on early returns he’s pleased with what MSU fans are likely to see.

“I’m pleased with the start,” Huse said of his team’s first week of full practice sessions. “The  guys have really been engaged and learning and applying. They’re showing that we’ve got some good talent on the court.”

That unveiling begins Friday night after the 7 pm MSU women’s volleyball game, when the Bobcat men’s and women’s teams take the Shroyer Gym floor for the Bobcat Basketball Bash. The event will consist of introductions of both men’s and women’s team members, an audience participation game of Simon Says, a three-point contest, a men’s dunk contest scored by the women’s team, a seven-minute scrimmage, and free throw shooting contest.

“It will be a fun event,” Huse said. “It’s always great for the fans to interact with the players and for the players to just have some fun.”

Saturday, the Bobcat men’s team stages its annual Blue-Gold Scrimmage at 1 pm in Worthington Arena. Huse said his team in focusing on installing its basic team concepts, while polishing fundamentals. “We’re installing our base offense and defense,” he said. “There’s good balance and versatility on this team. I don’t think we’ll have to get as creative trying to create scoring chances on offense.”

The Bobcats play their first exhibition on November 3 against South Dakota School of Mines.
