CORVALLIS — Butte Central started slow and could not quite recover Saturday in a three-set Southwestern A volleyball match with Corvallis.
The Blue Devils rolled to a 25-15 victory in the first set. BC tightened things up after that, but fell 25-23 and 27-25 to end the match.
“We just never quite got to the level we needed to be playing at today,” BC coach Becky Hancock said. “After the first game, we made some adjustments that I felt worked, but just couldn’t close out in those last two games. The little things cost us, and we can’t afford to give those points away in clutch situations. Our game needs to become more solid and consistent.”
Ella Moodry and Sofee Thatcher each tallied five kills to lead BC’s attack in the loss. Brooke Badovinac killed four.
Mia Keeley handed out 16 kills, and Maycee Anderson led the team with 14 digs. Thatcher dug 11.
The Maroons, who fell to 0-2 in Southwestern A play, will play host to East Helena next Thursday.
