Billings West and Great Falls High came out on top of state Class AA high school boys’ loser-out games Saturday morning to secure spots in the consolation final for third place. The Golden Bears and the Bison were scheduled to play at 3:30 at the Butte Civic Center.
Billings West won by 51-43 over Missoula in their elimination game played at the Ross J. Richardson Memorial Gym in Butte High School. Great Falls High dropped Helena High 59-44 in the Civic Center in their loser-out.
Cade Tyson and Jesse Owens scored 10 points apiece in the Billings West win, helped also by Kobe Nelson pulling down seven rebounds. The Golden Bears led after every quarter, including 26-22 at halftime.
Sentinel was led by Ned Daily with 14 points and Tony Frohlich-Fair with 10.
Great Falls High answered the morning alarm as Kyle Torgerson scored 12 points, Blake Thelen 11 and Cash Abbott 10. Thelen also yanked down seven rebounds for the Bison.
Helena HIgh ended up 12-13 for the season and got a big game out of Alex Johnson in its last one. Johnson punctuated his season with 12 points and 10 rebounds.
