Billings Central Rams win elusive Class A boys’ crown

GREAT FALLS — The fourth time was the charm for the Billings Central Rams.

The Rams dethroned the Hardin Bulldogs with a 62-44 win in the championship game of the Class A State tournament at the Four Seasons Arena.

The victory came after the Rams finished runners up the last three state title games.

Billings Central, coached by Anaconda native Jim Stergar, got 21 points and seven rebounds from Chrishon Dixon to lead the Rams to their first state title since 1996.

Sam Gray added 12 points and six rebounds, while Cade Herriford scored 11 points and pulled down eight boards.

Famous Lefthand came off the bench to score 13 points to lead Hardin. Lefthand played after leaving Hardin’s semifinal win over Butte Central with an injury Friday night. Eric Woods scored 11 points.
