Bignell, Palmore, Dawgs turn back Oredigger women

The Western win halted Montana Tech’s three-game winning streak.

Western outscored the Orediggers 22-11 in the fourth quarter to pull off the win, overcoming 47-46 deficit. Western led 15-9 after the first quarter before the Orediggers took a 34-32 advantage into halftime.

Kourtney Coverdell hit four 3-pointers and scored 17 points to lead the Orediggers. Martha Dembek added 14 points, while Hattie Thatcher scored eight points and dished out eight assists.

The Orediggers (14-14, 8-9) will play host to Carroll College on Thursday night. Western (21-6, 10-6) will play at MSU-Northern and the University of Great Falls next week.
