SIOUX CITY, Iowa — It is tournament time for the Montana Tech volleyball team.
The No. 24 Orediggers (23-9) open pool play of the NAIA National Tournament Tuesday at 2 p.m. (Mountain Time) against Georgetown (Kentucky) at the Tyson Event Center.
Tech will play in Pool F after advancing in the host round with a convincing three-set win over Indiana University South Bend Nov. 19 at the HPER Complex.
Tech, which placed second in the Frontier Conference in the regular season and tournament, will also play matches at noon on Wednesday and Thursday before the tournament goes to an elimination bracket on Friday.
The Orediggers will play No. 6 Eastern Oregon (28-2) on Wednesday and Coastal Georgia (29-8) on Thursday.
No. 11 Georgetown (29-7) is the champion of the Mid-South Conference. Eastern Oregon won the Cascade Collegiate Conference and tournament titles, while Coastal Georgia placed third in the Southern State Athletic Conference and won the SSAC tournament.
Seniors Makenzie Bauck, Angie Pancost, Jordan Danz and Bailie Cortner lead the Orediggers into battle. Tech is making its first appearance in the tournament since 1988.
Carroll College, which is coached by Butte Native Maureen (Tutty) Boyle, will play in Pool B after winning the Frontier Conference regular-season and tournament titles. The Saints open pool play at 2 p.m. Tuesday against Doane (Nebraska).
Carroll will play Viterbo (Wisconsin) at noon on Wednesday and Ozarks (Missouri) at noon on Thursday.
