OGDEN, Utah — Big Sky Conference Commissioner Doug Fullerton announced Wednesday that Northern Arizona football player Mike Dosen has been issued a one-game suspension for an illegal hit.
The incident occurred on Saturday, Sept. 22, in Northern Arizona’s 41-31 victory over Montana in Missoula. With 8:57 remaining in the third quarter, Dosen initiated helmet-to-helmet contact with a Montana player.
As required by Rule 9-1-3, the Conference reviewed the play. The play violated Rule 9-6, Article 3 which states, “No player shall target an initiate contact against an opponent with the crown (top) of his helmet.’’
Dosen, a sophomore defense back Pittsburg, Calif., will serve his suspension on Saturday when Northern Arizona plays host to Portland State.
Northern Arizona’s coaching staff was notified of the suspension on Tuesday.
