Big Sky suspends four players

OGDEN, Utah — Big Sky Conference Commissioner Doug Fullerton has issued suspensions to four football players as a result of actions that occurred in games last week.

Idaho State’s Nick Beckman, a sophomore offensive lineman, has been suspended for the first half of his team’s game Saturday, Oct. 13, against UC Davis. Beckman’s suspension is the result of throwing a punch with 2:33 remaining in the third quarter of the Bengals’ game against Portland State on Oct. 6.

Idaho State freshman defensive back Taison Manu has been suspended a full game for tackling using the crown of his helmet. The hit occurred with 3:30 remaining in the second quarter of the Bengals’ game against Portland State. Manu will serve the suspension on Saturday, Oct. 13.

UC Davis sophomore linebacker Stephen Pitts has been issued a one-game suspension for tackling using the crown of his helmet. The play occurred with 3:35 remaining in the third quarter of the Aggies’ game against Montana State on Oct. 6. Pitts will serve the suspension on Saturday, Oct. 13, when the Aggies play at Idaho State.

Cal Poly junior defensive back Alex Hubbard has been suspended one game for a high hit on a defenseless player. The play occurred with 13:57 remaining in the first quarter of the Mustangs’ win over Weber State on Saturday, Oct. 5. Hubbard will serve the suspension on Saturday, Oct. 13, when the Mustangs play Northern Colorado.
