Big inning sinks Miners

BOZEMAN — Gallatin Valley rode a nine-run fifth inning to a 15-5 win over the Butte Miners Saturday at the Southern A District American Legion Baseball tournament. (Box score)

The game was called by the 10-run rule after the Outlaws scored four more runs in the bottom of the sixth inning.

GVO heads to the championship game of the double-elimination tournament. The Miners will play Dillon or Belgrade at 10 a.m. Sunday.

The winner will go on to play the Outlaws and will book a trip to the Class A State tournament in Florence. The loser goes home.

Kyler Grevious homered and doubled while driving in five runs to lead the Outlaws. Michael Nehring added a homer, while Hunter Johnson tripled.

Aidan Lee blasted a grand slam in the first inning for the Miners. Scout Allen tripled, and Egan Lester and Peyton Hettick each hit two singles. Eric Hart added a single for Butte.
