Big Butte Challenge is Saturday

The 33rd Big Butte Challenge will be held Saturday at Montana Tech.

The event is billed as a unique and challenging cross country race on courses of rugged trails and hills. Races include a 1-mile run, a 5-kilometer walk, 5-kilometer run, an 11-kilometer run and a trifecta.

The 11-K race includes a run up the face of Big Butte.

Cost is $10 for racers 17 and under, $35 for adults and $25 for seniors 62 and older. Cost is an additional $5 on race day. A long-sleeved T-shirt is included with your entry.

Race-day registration starts at 8 a.m. at the Montana Tech HPER Complex. The trifecta and 11-K race start at 8:30. The 5-K run and walk begins at 9:45 a.m., and the 1-mile fun run begins at 10:30 a.m. The starting line is at the World Museum of Mining.
