GREAT FALLS – Butte High’s wrestling program won two weight classes and placed in several others at a GFH Invitational boys’ subvarsity competition held at Great Falls High on Saturday.
Butte High weight-class wins were posted by freshman Darryn Rossiter at 113 pounds and Bode Hazlett at 132. The team picked up runner-up finishes from Joey Ward at 120 pounds and Garrett Henson at 182, thirds from Lincoln Zell and Tyrese LeProwse at 103 pounds and Bridger Brancamp at 152, and fourths from Connor Espelin at 113 pounds, Jaeger Hansen at 126 and Quinton Dennison at 205.
“We also put 10 kids into the largest tournament in the state of Montana,” Butte High program head coach Cory Johnston said. “The CMR Holiday Classic.
“These kids all competed extremely hard and gained valuable experience with high-level competition. This was followed by putting 22 individuals into the GFH Invitational on Saturday. Each kids got a ton of mat time, and a lot of success. We’re proud of the steps we’re making.”
Darryn Rossiter won a match for Butte High in the CMR tourney’s 113-pound class. Hazlett won twice at 132. Mason Armstrong had a win at 138 Brancamp took two wins at 152, and Henson won a bout.
Butte Central had no placewinnings competing at the CMR Holiday Classic, but had bout wins from Conan Holmes in the 103-pound bracket and his older brother, James Holmes, in the 132-pound class.
