The past week had several impressive performances on the Butte sports scene.
Zach Bunney ran for 154 yards on eight carries to help Butte High rout Missoula Hellgate 42-0 Friday. Bunney scored on touchdowns runs of 75 and 40 yards on consecutive touches in the second half.
Pat Hansen ran for 128 yards and three touchdowns on 21 carries as Montana Tech beat Carroll College 37-20 Saturday.
On Friday, Clint Choquette, a 2005 Butte High graduate who went back to school this semester, placed fourth at the Carroll College Early Bird Open Friday in Helena. Choquette ran the 6-kilometer course in 19 minutes, 27 seconds. He was 26 seconds behind the winner, Jon Smith of Spokane Community College.
On Thursday, Montana Tech freshman libero Kimmy Kavran set the school record with 42 digs as the Orediggers opened their Frontier Conference season with a five-game win over Montana Western.
Also Thursday, Butte Central senior Shannon McLaughlin served up eight aces, including five straight to close out the second game, as Butte Central swept Dillon.
In soccer, Matt Loeffler scored two goals Friday to lead the Bulldogs to a 3-0 win over Great Falls Russell.
