LEWISTON, Idaho — Sean Benson is one shot out of the lead after the first round of the Warrior Invitational.
The Montana Tech junior shot a 2-under par 70 at the Lewiston Golf and Country Club today, and he is tied with Lewis-Clark State College golfer Brandon Barnes for second place.
L-C State’s Shaun Harpin shot a 35 and a 34 for a 69 to take the lead. Benson and Barnes both shot 35 on each nine.
The men’s second round is being played now. The tournament concludes with 18 holes on Tuesday.
Host Lewis-Clark State shot a 288 to take the first-round lead. Rocky Mountain College is two back at 296. Tech is third at 303, followed by Carroll College at 309 and Providence-Great Falls at 320.
Tech’s Sam Ramsbacher shot a 73 and sits in a fifth place tie. Oredigger Jimmy Amundson is tied for 13th at 75, and Tech’s Houston Green is tied for 20th at 77, one shot better than teammate Trey Hoagland.
On the women’s side, Rocky and Lewis-Clark State are tied a 309 heading into Tuesday’s final round. Carroll is third at 335, followed by Providence at 339 and Tech at 351.
Rocky’s Amanda Conner sits atop the individual leaderboard at 74. L-C State’s Allison Kadinger is one shot back.
Tech’s Taryn Campbell finds herself in 17th place after an 86. Teammate Hailey Ogolin is tied for 18th at 87, while teammate Tanna Campbell hit an 89 and is tied for 20th.
Also for the Orediggers, Lynzee Dexter hit 90 and Megan Steach shot 99.
