Bengals best Bulldogs behind strong pitching effort

Faith Howard scattered eight Butte High hits, struck out 11 batters and didn’t walk any as she pitched Helena High to an 8-1 Western AA Conference high school girls’ softball victory over the Bulldogs on Tuesday at Stodden Park.
Maloree English led the Bengals’ offense with four hits, including a double. She and Howard drove in two runs apiece. The Bengals are No. 2 in the Western AA Conference standings.
Kailey May clubbed a double.
Gracie Ferriter doubled and singled, and Kamber Leary laced two singles to pace the Butte High offense. Ally Godbout also belted a double.
Rian Ferriter, Madisyn Swanson and Ashby Lee each stroked a single.
The loss made Butte High’s record stand at 1-9 overall, 1-8 in conference. The Bulldogs are to be at home on Thursday for a 5 p.m. game against Missoula Hellgate at Stodden Park.
Helena High took its records to 13-1 and 8-1 with the win.
