BELGRADE – Brooklyn Ragland slugged a home run and winning pitcher Ella Seaman knocked in three runs with two singles to spark Belgrade to a 13-2 victory over Butte High in a non-conference Class AA high school girls’ softball game Saturday.
The Panthers led all the way, building a 9-0 command before Butte High was able to score a run. The game ended in the fifth inning on the 10-run difference rule.
Seaman pitched the first four innings before Tayler Thomas hurled the fifth for the Panthers, the two combining on a four-hitter. The Butte High hits were all singles off the bats of Kamber Leary, Maddi Jonart, Ashby Lee and Sophie Radcliffe. Jonart knocked in a run.
Abbie Morin and Thomas each ripped a double in the Belgrade win. Seven of the Panthers’ runs were unearned as Butte High suffered some defensive lapses, committing three errors.
The loss put the Bulldogs’ record at 1-5. They are scheduled to play at home on Thursday against Missoula Big Sky. Butte High has not played a home game yet this season due to bad weather conditions.
