The first quarter belonged to the Stevensville Yellowjackets.

Dillon owned the rest.

The Dillon Beavers overcame a 13-12 deficit in the first quarter to roll to a 64-33 win over Stevensville Thursday night in the opening round of the Southwestern A District girls’ basketball tournament at the Maroon Activities Center. (Stats)

The game closed the book on the first day of the combined tournaments.

Dillon will play Butte Central in Friday’s 8 p.m. semifinal. Corvallis will play Hamilton in the other semifinal, which is set for 5. Stevi heads to a loser-out game Saturday morning at Butte High’s Richardson Gym. (Bracket)

Dillon led 30-18 at halftime and blew the game open with a 20-9 run in the third quarter.

Josey Jones scored 16 points to lead a Dillon attack that saw 10 Beavers score points. Jones also grabbed six rebounds

Tylia DeJohn, Jordyn McKay, Kylee Pittman and Ainsely Shipman each scored seven points  Lauryn Petersen and Evey Hansen each scored six.

Kennedy Praast scored 11 points and pulled down six boards to lead the Yellowjackets.
