BC’s Tyge Yelenich, Tricia Joyce win again

BELGRADE — Tyge Yelenich and Tricia Joyce have done it again.

The Butte Central golfers claimed their second first-place finish in a high school golf tournament in four days. This time it was the Belgrade Invitational at the Riverside Country Club.

Yelenich, a sophomore, fired a 1-over-par 73 to claim medalist honors on the boys’ side. Lewistown’s Tyrell Walter placed second at 76, while fellow Eagle Jace Davis tied with Havre’s Dustin Haas for third at 79.

Jackson Beyer of the Bozeman junior varsity team shot a 75, but JV scores weren’t factored in the results.

In three tournaments this season, Yelenich has two first-place finishes and one fifth-place showing. Joyce now has two firsts and one second. Both won titles at the Park Invite Friday in Livingston.

On Monday, Joyce, a freshman, shot a 76 for an eight-shot win over second place Kinsey Irvin. Irvin, of Lewistown, shot an 84. The only other girl golfer to break 100 was Havre’s Randi Gabrielsen, who shot 97

Lewistown won the team title with a 398 on the girls’ side. Livginston and Havre tird for second at 433, followed by Dillon at 452.

Havre’s 324 topped the boys’ team standings. Livingston placed second at 339, followed by Livingston at 346, BC at 352, Belgrade at 361 and Dillon at 403.

Sophomore Cameron Johnson was second on the BC team with an 88. Senior Bryan Arnold followed with a 93, while classmates Sam Joyce and Tyler Kump followed with 98 and 99.

Marcus Lynch led the Butte High junior varsity team with a 94. Bulldogs Kaden Hanni (97), Kellen Lean (98), Levi Loggins (101) and Andrew Kober (131) also played in the tournament.

Next up for the Maroons is the Sept. 4 Dillon Invitational.
