BC’s McGee runs to victory in Anaconda

ANACONDA — Butte Central senior Conor McGee led the pack again Saturday.

McGee won his second race in as many weeks, winning the Anaconda Invitational in 16 minutes, 46 seconds. Last week, McGee won a race in Harrison.

“All the kids had their best time,” Butte Central coach Bob Johnson said of his Maroons.

Brian McGeehan, a freshman, finished in 18:09, while Theron Nelson ran in 18:26, Ian Campbell and Clay Stillwagon crossed in 20:30 and Nathon Ortega ran in 23:49. Nelson and Ortega are also freshmen, and Johnson pointed out all three freshman ran personal best times on Saturday.

For Butte High, junior, Nic Raiser finished in 17:02.

“He is improving each week and I am happy with how he is racing,” Bulldog coach Mara Osborne said.

Sydney Pendergast ran in 21:15, while Joby Rosenleaf crossed in 21:30 for the Bulldog girls.

“Sydney, Joby and Abby (Burke) worked together and had a good race,” Osborne said. “Syd is running so well and has improved tremendously.”

Abby McGee ran in 22:17 for the Maroons.

“Abby ran extremely well,” Johnson said.

The Bulldogs and Maroons head to the Mountain West meet in Missoula next week.

Complete results for the Anaconda race are not available.
