BC’s McGee 25th, McGeehan 27th at divisional

GREGSON — Butte Central cross country runners Abby McGee and Brian McGeehan led the Maroons at the Western A Divisional cross country meet Saturday on the Fairmont Hot Springs golf course.

McGee, a senior, ran to 25th place in the girls’ race, while McGeehan, a junior, placed 27th in the boys’ race.

McGee finished the 3-mile course in 22 minutes, 20 seconds. Hamilton’s Jaycie Schmalz won the race with a time of 19:25. Kimberly Peacock of Columbia Falls was a close second at 19:28.

McGeehan crossed in 18:27. Sage Wanner of Columbia Falls won in 16:24, beating Corvallis’ Carson Jessop by 7 seconds.

Also for BC, Zach Carlson placed 38th in 19:14, and Maroon Nathan Ortega finished 51st in 21:12.

The Maroons runners will close the season next Saturday at the Class A State meet in Kalispell.
