BC’s Kyle Schulte shares Southwestern A defensive honor

On a day when a dozen Butte Central football players received Southwestern A All-Conference recognition, senior defensive end Kyle Schulte stood out.

Schulte was named co-MVP on defense of the Southwestern A. He shares the honor with Dillon senior outside linebacker Kyle Finch.

Dillon junior quarterback Troy Andersen was named offensive MVP after leading the Beavers to the Class A state championship game.

Schulte, Cal Hollow, Cole Harper, Ethan St. John and Jake Michelotti were named All-State on Monday. The all-conference honors were released Tuesday.

Schulte was one of five Maroons to receive all-conference recognition at more than one position. He took home first-team honors at offensive tackle and defensive end. Schulte is also a second-team punter.

Michelotti registered first-team accolades at guard and on the defensive line. Hollow received first-team honors at strong safety and return specialist. He also received a second-team nod at receiver.

Nate McGree is a first-team free safety and a second-team tight end/slot receiver, while Harper added an honorable mention at cornerback to his first-team selection at receiver.

St. John at offensive tackle and Tanner Kump at quarterback also took home first-team honors.

Colin McArthur at defensive end, Ryan Moodry at inside linebacker and Blake Burton at running back were named to the second team, while Sam Johnston at outside linebacker and Ryan Richards at guard received an honorable mention.
