BC’s Harrington wins 100 at divisional

DILLON — Kyle Harrington is a divisional champion.

The Butte Central sophomore won the 100-meter race Saturday at the Southwestern A Divisional track and field meet at Vigilante Field. He finished the race in 11.26 seconds.

Hamilton’s Kyle Crossman was 11.42 seconds.

Harrington joins freshman Rachael McGree, who won the long jump Friday, as BC’s divisional title winners.

Kaemen Richards posted his second second-place finish of the meet in the discus Saturday. Marcus Ferriter placed third in the discus, while Danny Peoples placed third in the javelin.

Michael Cooney (high jump) and Nate McGree (triple jump) both posted sixth-place finishes for the Maroons. The top five placers in each event, though, advance to next week’s Class A State meet in Butte.

The Maroons placed fifth in the 1,600-meter relay race, and the boys placed fifth with 56 points. Hamilton won with 161 points, while Corvallis scored 135, followed by Stevensville at 88 and Dillon at 64. Anaconda scored 23.

Rachael McGree followed Friday’s big day with a fourth-place showing in the 300-meter hurdles.

Abby McGee placed fourth in the 800, while Whitney McGree took fifth in the 100. BC also placed fourth in the 1,600-meter relay.

Corvallis easily won the team title with 255 points. Dillonw as second at 106, followed by Hamilton at 97 and Butte Central at 38. Also, Stevensville scored 21, and Anaconda tallied nine.

The state meet begins Friday at the Charlie Merrifield Track at Bulldog Memorial Stadium.
