FRENCHTOWN — Butte Central’s volleyball team showed a glimpse of possible good things to come Tuesday night in a Southwestern A battle with the Frenchtown Broncs.
The Maroons took the opening set 26-24 in the road match before the Broncs battled back to win the next three 25-17, 25-17, 25-22.
“We started off great tonight, but we just couldn’t finish,” BC coach Becky Hancock said. “We need to start believing we can win, and figuring out how to get that done.”
Morgan Snow tallied 10 kills to lead the Broncs, who out killed the Maroons 39-23 for the victory.
Cassidy Strizic spiked 11 kills for the Maroons, who got four kills apiece from Megan Michelotti and Olivia Bolton.
Emma Keeley directed the BC offense with 15 assists, while Kassidy Criscuolo collected 21 digs and Sophia Burton dug 19 to lead BC’s backcourt defense. Olivia Bolton and Zoe Sullivan each added nine digs.
Criscuolo also served four aces. Keeley aced three serves.
“We are playing right with these teams, and if we can start getting it done when it counts next week that is all that matters,” Hancock said. “This Saturday is senior night, and I am hoping a turning point into the team I know they are capable of being.”
The Maroons host Stevensville on Saturday. They head back to Frenchtown Oct. 27-28 for the first Southwestern A District tournament.
The Western A tournament is Nov. 2-4 in Butte.
