BC tennis ‘really good’ at divisionals

The Butte Central boys’ tennis team had another banner day Thursday.

The Maroons opened the Southwestern A Divisional tennis tournament in Hamilton with major success.

“So far so good — actually really good,” Butte Central coach Bernie Carey said.

Singles players Derek Ralph, Northey Tretheway and Kale Guldseth advanced to the quarterfinals. Jack Gallagher won a match before falling. He is still alive in the consolation bracket.

In doubles, Jim and Frank Joyce, Kolten LaMiaux and Kaden Peeples, and Patrick Kenney and Tyler Trudnowski advanced to the semifinals.

On the girls side, Ali Guldseth and Kellsie Quinn won a consolation match in Corvallis. So did Nici Rosencrans and Sarah Drew.

Yi-Chin Lee was eliminated.

The three-day tournament continues tomorrow.

Team results are not yet available.
