BC struggles in Belgrade, swept by Panthers

BELGRADE — The Belgrade Panthers swept past Butte Central in a non-conference volleyball match Tuesday night at the Belgrade Special Events Center.

Bailey Christensen (13) and Brooke Gilbertson (12) combined for 25 kills to lead the Panthers, who are fresh off a victory at the Butte Central Blocktober Classic. The Panthers out killed BC 42-22 in the 25-13, 25-19, 25-18 win..

“We didn’t play well tonight, plain and simple,” BC coach Becky Hancock said. “We struggled in a lot of areas, but this team will bounce back. We have the week off, so that will be nice for us to get some rest in and focus in on what we need to do as a team to become stronger.”

Corbyn Holm’s six kills led the BC attack. The Maroons also got four kills apiece from Kassidy Criscuolo, Mollie Peoples and Taylor Wahl.

Emily St. John added 25 digs and 20 assists in the loss for the Maroons, who fell to 7-5 on the season. Belgrade improved to 16-4.
