BC softball faces Anaconda or Corvallis

Barring a substantial upset in the first round, the Butte Central softball team will face Anaconda in the first round of the Southwestern A Divisional tournament in Anaconda.

The host Copperheads, the No. 3 seed, will play last-place Corvallis at 1 p.m. Friday. The winner of that game will play the No. 2 seed Maroons at 4 p.m. at the Charlotte Yeoman-Martin Complex.

The Maroons, who won nine of their last games overall, tied with Hamilton for first place in the regular season at 9-1. The Broncs took the top seed by winning the tiebreaker.

BC swept Corvallis and Anaconda, winning two close games against the Copperheads. That includes last week’s 8-7 victory in Anaconda.

In the other 1 p.m. first-round game, No. 4 Stevensville will battle No. 5 Dillon. The winner of that game plays Hamilton at 4.

The top three teams will advance to the Class A State tournament in Polson.

GO Copperheads!!! I live in Minnesota and have listened to a few Copperheads’ games through my computer on KANA580. I have two grandkids playing for the Copperheads. If they advance to the state playoffs in Polson, I’ll be there to watch them.
