The McGree family was honored by the Butte Central M Club on Saturday, Sept. 8 during the organization’s annual dinner and awards ceremony at the Maroon Activities Center. The family was presented the 2012 M Club Award for their longstanding dedication to Butte Central Schools.
The Butte Central M Club was established in 2008 to honor all former Butte Central letter winners in all boys and girls sports. Each fall the club holds a celebration in conjunction with a home football game. Over 100 former lettermen attended the event on Saturday. Several Maroon teams were also honored at the dinner and were introduced at the Maroons football game.
The McGree family was recognized for their generosity and support of Catholic education. The awardees included the late Tom and Elaine McGree, their nine children and several of their grandchildren who have attended Butte Central Schools. All nine of the McGree children are graduates of Butte Central including: Tom (1967), Sue (McGree) Rediske (1966), Mike (1970), Pat (1973), Steve (1974), Moe (McGree) Brophy (1976), John (1981), John (1982), and Dan (1986). There are currently 10 McGree grandchildren in the Butte Central System.
A permanent plaque in championship Lane at the MAC recognizes the McGrees and all former M Club Award winners.
