BELGRADE — Butte Central will get another crack at Frenchtown.

The Maroons knocked off Belgrade 3-2 in the third-place game of the Class A State tournament at the Belgrade Softball Complex.

BC (17-4) will play Frenchtown again now. The Maroons need to beat the three-time defending champion Broncs twice to win the state title.

Teresa Piazzola struck out cleanup hitter Jordan Branch looking with the tying and go-ahead runs in scoring position to end the game.

Piazzola struck out five in the game and used 105 pitches. Through two games, she has 254 pitches.

Taylor Wahl singled and scored on a passed ball to give the Maroons a 1-0 lead in the fourth. Megan Michelotti, who is 6 for 6 on the day, scored the next two runs.

She singled and scored on a Shawnee Hjelt single in the fifth. She doubled and scored on a Hjelt groundout in the sixth. Shania Neubauer singled and scored on a Branch single in the sixth. Shaina Krone, Anna Cox and Skyla Neubauer singled in the seventh, cutting the lead to 3-2.

Then Piazzola got Judy Taylor swinging before fanning branch.

The Panthers close the season at 20-3. Their only Class A loses were at the hands of the Maroons.
