BC girls win big

FRENCHTOWN — Butte Central’s girls’ basketball team opened the season in style Friday.

Sophomore Sofee Thatcher hit four 3-poiners and scored 16 points — all in the first half — and the Maroons cruised to a 48-22 win over Whitefish at the Frenchtown Middle School.

The game was part of the Western A Tipoff Tournament.

Central used a 17-5 run in the second quarter to take a 31-13 lead into halftime.

Freshman Brooke Badovinac added 10 points for the Maroons, who saw eight different players score.

Avery Kelly scored six points, while Delaney Hasquet and Emma Keeley each scored four, Brenna Foley tossed in three, Maddie Kump and Hattie Mehring scored two, and Amira Bolton tossed in one.

Maycee Anderson, Payton Hartwick, Mia Keeley and Taylor Harrington also played for the Maroons.

Gracie Smyley paced the Bulldogs with six points.

Central will play Ronan Saturday at 5:30 p.m. at Frenchtown High School.
