BC girls suffer first loss

FRENCHTOWN — Frenchtown scored more than half of its points from the free throw line Friday night, and the Broncs beat Butte Central 40-32 in a Southwestern A game.

The loss was the first in four games for the Maroons.

Sadie Smith scored 11 points to lead the Broncs, who improved to 2-0 in conference and 4-3 overall. Cassidy Bagnell shot 8 for 8 from the free throw line to join Demi Smith with eight points. Smith hit 6 of 8 free tosses.

The Broncs also got seven points from Lauren Demmons. On the night, the Broncs shot 24 for 31 from the free throw line. BC hit 6 of 12 from the stripe.

Sofee Thatcher’s 11 points led the Maroons, who fell to 1-1 in conference play. Brooke Badovinac scored 10 points in the loss.

Also for the Maroons, Amira Bolton and Delaney Hasquet each scored four points, and Taylor Harrington scored three.

Central is back in action Saturday when the Maroons play host to Stevensville at 4 p.m. at the Maroon Activities Center.
