BC girls roll to 5-0

HAMILTON — Butte Central’s girls’ basketball team used a 17-9 first quarter to take command and improved to 5-0 on the season with a 62-40 win over the Hamilton Broncs Tuesday night.

Danee Leary scored 17 points and grabbed six rebounds in the win over the previously unbeaten Broncs. Mariah Cooney posted a double-double with 10 points and 11 boards, while Hannah Stajcar scored 10 points.

“It was a fast-paced game and we played great defense,” BC coach Meg Murphy said after her team improved to 3-0 in Southwestern A play. “Hamilton is young but very good.”

Alysea Pica added eight points in the win, while Danika Neumann scored seven and Shawnee Hjelt and Taylor Templin each scored two. Chandra McCurdy netted one.

Taylor Goligoski scored 14 points to lead the Broncs.

Butte Central is back in action Thursday when they close out the pre-Christmas schedule at home against Belgrade.
