DILLON — Brooke Badovinac had another huge game Thursday afternoon, and Butte Central opened the Southwestern A District girls’ basketball tournament with an easy win at the B.W. Lodge Gymnasium.
The BC junior tossed in 28 points to climb further up BC’s record book as the Maroons routed the Corvallis Blue Devils 57-30.

The Maroons took control early, using a 17-5 run in the second quarter to give BC a 27-10 halftime advantage. Central outscored the Blue Devils 30-20 after the break.
Senior Sofee Thatcher joined Badovinac in double figures with 16 points. Ella Moodry scored six points, while Payton Hartwick tossed in three, and Brenna Foley and Mollie Drew each scored two.
Maycee Anderson and Renee Creekmore also contributed in the victory that upped BC’s record to 12-7. The Maroons have won six of their last seven.
Madeline Gilder scored six points to lead the Blue Devils (3-16). Megan Jessop tossed in five. Alina Brown, Laurie Davidson and Erika Jessop each scored four.
With 452 points on the season, Badovinac moved into second place on the BC girls’ single-season scoring list. She now trails just Kellie Johnson’s 1996 season of 485 points.
