Butte Central’s football game in Corvallis has been postponed, school officials said.
Butte Central coach Don Peoples Jr., who is also the president of Butte Central Schools, said the reason for the postponement was because a student at BC tested positive for COVID-19. Peoples said the student is not a football player.
The game has been rescheduled for 7 p.m. on Saturday, and Peoples said he is hopeful it can still be played. First, though, the school needs to get approval from the Butte-Silver Bow Health Department.
“We just could not make an informed decision this afternoon until we worked through our protocols with the health department,” Peoples said. “Our tentative plan is to play tomorrow.”
Peoples said the Maroons will not practice Friday while their plans for Saturday are being worked out.
“Another day of practice won’t help us be able to play,” he said. “We told the kids to go get some rest, and get recharged and come back even more ready tomorrow.”
Butte Central’s volleyball matches scheduled for Saturday in Hamilton have also been postponed. A makeup date has not been set.
