BC, Butte High golfers back in action Monday

Fresh off some impressive showings, the Butte High and Butte Central golf teams will jump back into action Monday.

The Bulldogs will send their varsity teams to Billings for a two-day tournament. Monday’s round starts at 1 p.m. at Lake Hills Golf Club. Tuesday’s play starts at 8:30 a.m.at EagleRock Golf Course.

Butte Central and Butte High’s boys’ junior varsity team will compete in the one-day Belgrade Invitational, which begins at 9 a.m. at the Riverside Country Club.

The Billings tournament will include the Eastern AA schools and a few Class A teams.

Butte High senior Trey Hoagland finished second in the Great Falls Invitational last week. As a team, the Bulldog boys placed third, firing an impressive 306 on the final round. Sophomore Isiah Weldon tied for 10th at the meet, while junior Houston Green took 13th. Sophomore Will Hoagland and senior Eric Fogarty also showed they are capable of contributing by shooing a final-round 80 at the Eagle Falls Golf Course.

Junior Alexis Williams placed fifth overall in a tournament consisting of all 14 Class AA teams. Sophomores Sadie Starcevich and Kelliann Neary and junior Katelyn Alley will also compete for the Bulldogs.

Sophomore Tyge Yelenich and Tricia Joyce lead the Maroons into action in Belgrade. Both claimed individual titles at the Park Invitational Friday in Livingston. Joyce placed second and Yelenich fifth at the season-opening BC Invitational last Monday.

Senior Tyler Kump tied for 10th for the BC boys. Sophomore Cameron Johnson finished just out of the top 10. Seniors Bryan Arnold and Sam Joyce also competed for the Maroons last time out.

Marcus Lynch paced Butte High’s JV team at the BC Invite.
