BC boys take down Rangers, Copperheads

ANACONDA — Butte Central’s boys’ tennis team picked up two more wins Saturday.

The Maroons beat Livingston 4-3 and Anaconda 5-2 on a cold and windy conditions in the Smelter City.

“I’m really proud of the kids and the way the battled the weather and stepped up to compete in the tie-breaker situations,” BC assistant coach Lindsey Kambich said.

A pair of singles forfeits were the difference between a win and a loss in the match with Livingston.

The Maroons also picked up a pair of doubles wins in the victory. Kale Guldseth and Tyler Trudnowski racked up a straight sets win in the No. 1 doubles slot.

Jim Martz and Sam Joyce edged Wolfgang Greger and Mitch Frolick in a 6-3, 7-5 battle to secure the win.

In the win over Anaconda, the Maroons got singles wins from Patrick Kenney and Joyce. The Maroons also picked up a forfeit in singles.

Kenney won the match of the day, downing Eli VanMeel in a 12-10 tiebreaker for the victory.

Guldseth and Trudnowski beat Dennis Stanberry and Jackson Wagner in an 11-9 tie breaker.

Also, Martz teamed with Youlong Lin to knock off Gabe Blodnick and Tye Kincaid in a 7-3 tiebreaker.
