BC boys ride big second half to win

CORVALLIS — Three Butte Central players scored in double figures and the Maroons caught fire in the second half Saturday night, rolling to a 57-36 Southwestern A boys’ basketball victory over home-standing Corvallis.

Brady Tippett scored 21 points to lead the Maroons, who outscored the Blue Devils 34-16 to break open a game they led 23-20 at halftime. Nate Bolstad scored 18 points, while Kale Guldseth tossed in 12.

“Brady was really a leader for us tonight,” BC coach Brodie Kelly said. “Bolstad played great at both ends of the floor. We shared the ball really well tonight and our energy was good.”

Also, Connor McGree, Dalton Sessions and Marcus Ferriter each scored two points as BC improved to 6-3 in conference and 11-6 overall.

Chase Walker poured in 17 points to lead the Blue Devils, who fell to 0-8 and 1-15.

“I was really happy with the way we played,” BC coach Brodie Kelly said. “We defended well tonight. We struggled shooting in the second quarter. Our guys did a nice job attacking their zone in the second half.”

The Maroons close out the regular season next Saturday in Anaconda. BC hosts the Southwestern A Divisional tournament at the Maroon Activities Center in two weeks.
