Three Butte Central players scored in double figures Friday night at the Butte Civic Center as the Maroons open the boys’ basketball season with an impressive 61-41 win over Billings Central.
The game was part of Butte Central’s annual Tip-Off Tournament.
Marcus Ferriter and Dalton Sessions both poured in 13 points to lead the Maroons, while Kale Guldseth scored nine of his 11 points in the first half.
“The guys played really well,” Butte Central coach Brodie Kelly said. “We did a great job defending the paint and forcing contested perimeter shots. Our stats showed that we outscored them 30-12 in the paint.”
Nine Maroons scored with Chad Peterson tossing in nine points to go along with five from Nate Bolstad, three from Danny Peoples and two apiece from Cal Hollow, Cole Harper and Dylan Goodell.
“The guys played great fundamentally and made a lot of nice passes setting up lay ins,” Kelly said. “Dalton, Kale, Marcus, and Chad all had good offensive games.”
Billings Central advanced to the 2012-13 Class A state championship game. The Maroons will play Laurel, a semifinalist from last season, Saturday at Maroon Activities Center.
That game tips off at 2:30 p.m.
