HAMILTON — Butte Central added to its list of athletes who will compete in the Class A State track meet next week in Butte.
Three Maroon individuals and the boys 400-meter relay team secured their spots at the home meet Friday at the Western A Divisional meet. (Results)
On the boys’ side, Junior Kyle Holter posted a personal record with a leap of 20 feet, 11 ½ inches to place fourth in the long jump. He also took 11th in the javelin.
The top 10 place winners in each event move on to State.
BC sophomore Jack Keely posted a PR in the javelin to place eight at 147 feet, 5 inches.
The Maroons ran to 10th place in the 400 relay to move on. Zane Moodry, Holter, Keeley and Riley Gelling each ran a leg.
On the girls’ side, Ella Moodry qualified in the long jump, placing 10th with a mark of 15-5. She will throw the javelin Saturday. Moodry is the defending state champion in that event.
BC senior Rileigh McGree was entered in the 100-meter hurdles, 100 meters and long jump on Friday. She did not compete in those events, however, because she is battling an illness.
The Maroons are hopeful McGree can run the 300-meter hurdles on Saturday.
McGree, though, has already reached the qualifying standard in the 100 hurdles, 300 hurdles, 100 and long jump. She is the defending state champion in the long jump and both hurdles races.
Saturday’s action begins at 11 a.m. with the field events. Running events start at noon.
