HELENA — Rocky Mountain College will take a lead into Tuesday’s final 18 holes of the Carroll College Invitational.
The Battlin’ Bears followed their 269 earlier Monday with a 285 and hold a five-shot lead over second-place Carroll College at the Green Meadow Country Club.
Lewis-Clark State is third at 568, followed by Providence-Great Falls at 580 and Montana Tech at 588.
Hunter Weitze of LC State followed a 67 with a 70 for a 137 to top the leaderboard. First-round leader Michael Tait of Rocky slipped six shots for a 72 and sits in a four-way tie for second place at 138.
Montana Tech’s Sean Benson followed a 69 with a 71 and is three back at 140. Benson is in seventh place overall.
The Orediggers improved two shots for a 293 in the second round.
Jimmy Amundson improved 10 shots for a 72 in a second-round that saw every Tech player shoot in the 70s. Houston Green improved one shot for a 73 and a 147, while Trey Hoagland slipped a shot for a 77 and a 153. Ryan Keenan hit a 79 and sits at 155.
