BILLINGS — The season came to an end for the Montana Tech women’s basketball team Saturday night at the Fortin Center.
Shauna Bribiescas scored 14 points to lead four Rocky Mountain College players in double figures, and the No. 10 Battlin’ Bears rolled to a 71-39 win over the Orediggers in the semifinals of the Frontier Conference tournament. (Stats)
Rocky (25-3) jumped out to a 25-15 lead in the first quarter and took a 42-23 advantage into halftime. The Bears put away any Tech comeback hopes with an 18-7 third quarter.
The Bears will play host to Carroll College in Tuesday’s championship game. The Saints topped the University of Providence 63-51 in the other semifinal game.
Mackenzie Dethman and Dominique Stephens each added 13 points, and N’Dea Flye scored 12. Flye also grabbed eight rebounds and dished out five assists for the Bears, who got eight points from Butte Central graduate Kloie Thatcher.
Tavia Rooney and Soda Rice each scored 10 points to lead the Orediggers, who close the season at 12-19. Rooney also grabbed seven rebounds.
Also for Tech, Ally Cleverly scored seven points, Dani Urick and Brooke Heggie each scored four, Mollie Peoples tossed in three and Aubrie Rademacher scored one.
The loss closes the Oredigger careers for Peoples, Heggie, Urick, Chelstina Faletoi and Megan Delaney. It comes two nights after the Orediggers went to Dillon to beat Montana Western in the quarterfinals.
Carroll College 63, University of Providence 51

Sienna Swannack added 14 points for Carroll (25-6), which led 32-26 and pulled away in the third quarter.
Emilee Maldonado’s 18 points and seven boards paced the Argos (25-6). Maddy Dixon scored 12 points.
