Battlin’ Bears capture Frontier women’s title

BILLINGS — For the second night in a row, a Carroll College basketball team fell short in a thrilling Frontier Conference championship game.

Tuesday night it was the Carroll women, who fell 59-56 to Rocky Mountain College in the Fortin Center. (Stats)

N’Dea Fly scored 24 points and grabbed eight rebounds to lead the Battlin’ Bears (26-4), who also won the Frontier Conference regular-season title.

Klooie Thatcher added 16 points and a pair of assists for the Bears. The victory comes six years after Thatcher helped lead Butte Central to a 24-0 record and the Class A State title.

Rocky also got six points from Shauna Bribiescas scored six points and grabbed seven rebounds, while Gracee Lekvold and Mackenzie Dethman each scored five points.

Christine Denny scored 17 points to lead the Saints (25-7).
