WHITEFISH — Joel Barndt of Rocky Mountain College and Tanis Fuller of Lewis-Clark State College were named the Frontier Conference Players of the Week, the league announced Monday.
Barndt, a 6-foot-9 senior forward from Billings, won the men’s award after the Bears went 2-0 for the weekend with home wins over then No. 19 Montana Western, 83-73, and Westminster College, 66-51.
He averaged 19 points, 9.5 rebounds and two steals. Barndt was 13 of 21 (62 percent) from the field and 11 of 12 (92 percent) from free throw line.
Ty Ackleson of Dickinson State, Bryan Bock of Montana Tech, Maazin Butler of Montana Western, E.J. Farris of Lewis-Clark State, Alfie Miller of MSU-Northern, Blake Skidmore of Westminster College and Marcel Towns of the University of Great Falls were also nominated for the award.
Fuller, a 5-10 junior forward from Lewiston, Idaho, took home the women’s honor after the Warriors downed No. 17 Montana State-Northern 80-68 and Carroll College 69-42.
She averaged 22.5 points and 6.5 rebounds. Fuller was 15 of 19 from field (79 percent) and 15 of 20 (75 percent) from the free throw line.
Lindsey Abramson of the University of Great Falls, Sammy Bignell of Montana Western, A’Jha Edwards of MSU-Northern, Ja’Lisa Gatlin of Dickinson State, Mandy Machinal of Montana Tech, Tia Pappas of Westminster College and Mya Perrow-Donovan of Rocky Mountain College were also nominated for the honor.
