GOLDEN, Colorado — Butte native Bryon Baker made a perfect relief appearance for the MSU-Billings baseball team Saturday in a 9-5 loss to Colorado Mines at Jim Darden Field. Box score

Baker, a Butte High graduate, pitched 2.2 innings in his first appearance of the season.

The senior right hander finished the seventh and pitched the eighth and ninth innings for the Yellowjackets, who lost all three games of the season-opening series.

The former Butte Miner retired all eight batters he faced, striking out two. For his effort, Baker was named the St. Vincent Healthcare Player of the Game.

The Yellowjackets are back on the road next weekend for a three-game series against Colorado Mesa University in Grand Junction, Colorado.
