BILLINGS — Bryon Baker’s injured arm had just enough for five more outs.
Baker, a Butte High graduate, got the final five outs of MSU-Billings’ 11-6 loss to Central Washington Friday Dehler Park. The Yellowjackets won the other three games against Central Washington as the club celebrated its seniors on the final home weekend of the season.
Baker struck out three batters, gave up two hits and surrendered one earned run in the appearance, which was his first in several weeks.
He will not pitch when the Yellowjackets play in the GNAC Championships in Portland, Oregon.
The injury derailed what was a promising start to Baker’s senior season. The injury was also on the same shoulder he had surgically repaired a couple of years ago.
Baker finished his season with a 4-1 record. He made 12 appearances, seven of them starts, while posting a 4.21 ERA. He struck out 39 batters in 47 innings. He walked 23.
