Bailie Cortner receives All-American mention

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics announced the 2016 Tachikara-NAIA Volleyball All-America Teams, chosen by the NAIA Volleyball All-America Selection Committee. Montana Tech’s Bailie Cortner was selected Honorable Mention All-America.

The All-American Selection Committee is made up of NAIA-AVCA officers and the championship committee.

This is the second time Cortner has been named the All-America team. The senior middle blocker is a two-time Frontier Conference First Team All-Conference selection. The Red Lodge, Mont. finished the year with 352 kills while hitting 0.347 and had 160 blocks. Cortner led the conference in both hitting percentage and blocks this year.

Cortner finished her career as an Oredigger with 1,015 kills and a 0.278 hitting percentage and totaled 378 blocks.

Montana Tech finished second in the Frontier Conference Tournament and moved on to the NAIA Volleyball National Tournament for the first time since 1988. The Orediggers made it to the NAIA Final Site in Sioux City, Iowa. Tech went 2-1 in Pool Play and made it to the final 16-team single elimination bracket.
