Bado completes handball tourney sweep

If there was any doubt that Brett Bodovinac is the best handball player in the Mining City, it was ended Wednesday night.

Badovinac beat Chris McVeigh 21-14, 21-4 to defend his Butte City Open Singles Handball title at the Elks. Badovinac beat Frankie Shields in one semifinal, while McVeigh topped Leif Cox in the other.

The win gave Badovinac the Butte handball tournament sweep for the second straight season.

He won the Fall Back, City Masters and City Singles titles. He also teamed with Don Foley to win the City Doubles crown.

The runner up in last year’s 40-plus Masters division the State tournament in Butte, Badovinac will be part of a strong Butte contingent at the 2013 State tournament, which is this Friday through Sunday in Missoula.
