Badlands Bowl called off

MILES CITY — As it turns out, the last edition of the Knights of Columbus Badlands Bowl came in 2019.

The 27th edition of the game, which was set to be the finale on the series between all-stars from Montana and North Dakota, has been called off because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Officials with the game held out as long as they could before finally making the call to cancel today. The game was scheduled for June 20.

Quinn Sullivan of Butte High and Thomas McGree of Butte Central were slated to represent Montana. Aaron Richards of BC and Lucas Kingston and Scout Allen of Butte High were selected as alternates.

“It is unfortunate that COVID-19 protocols have taken away yet another celebration and honor for Montana and North Dakota seniors,” a statement from the Badlands Bowl reads. “We wish them all the best as they go forward with their academic and athletic pursuits in these uncertain times.”

“We would like to thank the committee members and volunteers, sponsors, and the communities of Dickinson, North Dakota and Miles City, Montana for their tireless work and support of the Badlands Bowl over the last 27 years.  We also would like to thank the numerous coaches and players from both states who came together to create memorable events each June and lasting relationships with each other.”
