This weeks Athlete of the week goes to Butte Central stud Rye Doherty. Rye helped the Butte Central Maroons get their first ever victory as a baseball program last week, and while the bats didn’t fully show up for the Maroons, Rye Doherty’s arm did as he fanned 14 batters on Lone Peak coached by former ST. Louis Cardinal ace Matt Morris.
Rye pitched a complete game giving up just 3 hits on 2 earned runs to go along with a whopping 14 K’s. Another crazy stat for Rye is he has 30 K’s over 18 innings for the young Maroons team.
Congratulations Rye and way to pitch and be a team player. The Maroons will play Lone Peak again, then Belgrade, and finish the season at Browning, allowing Rye to add to his strikeout total for the season.
