ANACONDA — The Anaconda A’s swept a non-conference doubleheader with the Butte Muckers Sunday at Washoe Park.
Anaconda overcame a 9-4 deficit to walk off with a 10-9 victory in the opener. Then, the A’s rolled to a 12-4 win in Game 2.
Next up for the Muckers is a tournament in Helena. The Butte team will play at least four games beginning Friday.
Game 1
Anaconda A’s 10, Butte Muckers 9 (Boxscore)
Andrew Tallon singled in Cory Galle with the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning.
The game-winning hit capped a rally that saw the A’s score three runs in the sixth and three in the seven.
Tallon went 3 for 3 with two RBIs and three runs to lead the A’s Tommy Sawyer went 2 for 3 with a double and three RBIs. Galle and Nate Blodnick also singled for the A’s. Tyrel Smith pitched three innings of relief to get the win.
Lucas Harris-Huerta struck out eight batters in five innings to lead Butte. He also went 2 for 4 with two RBIs. Tyler Duffy, Mason Neegard, Garrett Sharp, Gavin Trudgeon, Jacob Tauscher and Colby Gordon singled for Butte.
Game 2
Anaconda A’s 12, Butte Muckers 4 (Boxscore)
The A’s used a six-run fifth inning to take control of the second game.
Tallon pitched five and two thirds innings to pick up the win. He also went 3 for 4 with a double and a triple. Galle also tripled, and Smith doubled for the A’s, who won three of four games against the Muckers so far this season.
Will Stepan went 2 for 4 with a double to lead the Muckers. Sharp also doubled, while Zach O’Connell and Tyler Duffy singled.
